All healthcare providers may offer the H1N1 flu vaccine to all Delawareans above the age of 6 months, including those who are not in the priority groups previously established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The Division of Public Health (DPH) is urging those providers that need to order additional vaccine to do so soon. Vaccine orders may be faxed to the DPH Immunization Program at 1-800-318-0810.
Although H1N1 influenza activity in the community appears to be waning at this time, January and February are usually the peak time for influenza transmission to occur. Therefore, the DPH urges the continued use of H1N1 influenza vaccine.
Major pharmacy chains in Delaware are now receiving H1N1 vaccine. Providers that do not carry the 2009 H1N1 vaccine may ask their clients to call any of the retail pharmacies for information on the availability of H1N1 vaccine.
Questions about this health alert should be directed to DPH’s Immunization Program at 1-800-282-8672.
