Delaware Paramedic Education

Upon employment with a Delaware ALS agency, the candidate must apply for certification as a Delaware paramedic on approved application forms per the Division of Professional Regulation, Board of Medical Practice (BOMP). All paramedics practicing in Delaware are required to hold and maintain current National Registry, Basic Cardiac Life Support-Healthcare Provider, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (or Basic Trauma Life Support) cards. Paramedics are eligible for renewal of their paramedic certification every two-years and must go through the recertification process.

The Paramedic may obtain a list of all paperwork that is necessary in order to apply for certification or recertification from the agency with which they are employed. It is the individual paramedics responsibility to assure that all required forms have been submitted to the OEMS. For those paramedics who are recertifying, it is best to have all paperwork submitted to the OEMS at least (1) one month prior to their expiration date.
