Key Objective:
To provide expert poisoning information to the public and health care professionals, and to provide real time alerts of poisoning epidemics and trends.
Key 2011 Project:
To maintain a toll-free poison control center to offer public information, triage advice, and medical consultation; and to perform toxicoepidemic surveillance within Delaware and the surroundingregion.
Brief Project Description:
The Poison Control Center offers 24-hours-daily toll-free hotline expertise and maintains a database of reported poison exposures. In 2011, a new alert system will be introduced to provide real time information to health care officials – www.phillypccalerts.org
Project Outcome:
The Poison Control Center will provide cost-effective poison information services to Delaware, and will institute a new poison alerts system to keep health care providers abreast of new trends in poisoning injury prevention.
