Kinship Care Program
The Kinship Care Program assists non-parent caregivers during a child's initial transition into the caregiver's home. The program is designed to meet a child's immediate need for clothing, shelter, health, safety, and educational supplies.
A caregiver receiving assistance under this program must be a relative but not the parent of the child.

Financial eligibility is determined using the caregiver's family income. The income of the child's siblings or half siblings who have also moved into the caregiver's home is not counted. Neither the resources of the child nor the caregiver are counted towards eligibility.
The program can pay for items such as clothing for the child; furniture such as beds, chairs, and dressers; bed linens, blankets and towels; school supplies such as notebooks, pencils and calculators; items which directly foster child health or safety such as a car seat or infant monitor; and other necessities. Purchases not covered include electronic equipment such as personal computers, televisions, or stereos.
The Kinship Care Program is provided through a partnership between the Division of State Service Centers, the Division of Social Services, and the Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities.
