Delaware EMSC Grant
Grant Objectives (3/1/06 through 2/28/07):
Objective #1: Develop the EMSC System:
1A. Throughout the grant cycle 2004-2007, Delaware will continue to pursue an effective strategy to institutionalize EMSC in the state EMS System.
Objective #2: Prevent childhood injuries:
2A. One hundred professionals from Delaware will increase their ability to prevent childhood injures through attendance at a one-day annual children’s injury prevention conference sponsored by EMSC and the Delaware SAFE KIDS Coalition (three conferences by March of 2007).
Objective #3: Provide pediatric training:
3A. Twenty-five percent of Delaware paramedics and ten percent of Delaware BLS providers with increase their pediatric emergency care knowledge/skills as demonstrated by a score of 80% or higher on the Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers (PEPP) post-test, and successful completion of the PEPP skills stations by March of 2007.
3B. Fifty percent of Delaware paramedics and BLS providers will improve their pediatric disaster triaging skills as evidenced by successful completion of the Pediatric Disaster training CD-ROM developed for Delaware by the Critical Illness and Trauma Foundation by March of 2007.
Objective #4: Disseminate pediatric data:
4A. EMS leaders will have an increased awareness of pediatric emergency care issues through inclusion of pediatric data in the annual DEMSOC Report to the Governor.
Objective #5: Implement the Special Needs Alert Program (SNAP) for children with special health care needs:
5A. Thirty families of children with special health care needs will have an increased awareness of how the EMS system works and EMS providers will be more familiar with the care of special needs children in their community through the implementation.
