Delaware Emergency Medical Services Oversight Council (DEMSOC)
The Delaware Emergency Medical Services Oversight Council (DEMSOC) was formed pursuant to the Delaware Emergency Medical System Improvement Act of 1999 (HB332). The Council is charged with monitoring Delaware’s Emergency Medical Services system to ensure that all elements of the system are functioning in a coordinated, effective and efficient manner in order to reduce morbidity and mortality rates for the citizens of Delaware.
DEMSOC consists of 19 members appointed by the Governor. There is a representative for practicing field paramedics and there are three at-large appointments for interested citizens, one from each county. The Delaware Office of Emergency Medical Services provides staff support for DEMSOC. The Council meets several times throughout the year to address current issues and provide support for developing workable solution to those issues.
The main purpose of the DEMSOC annual report is to inform those interested in our State's EMS efforts about current practices and initiatives and to provide measurements useful for monitoring the performance of our EMS system. It is the pleasure of DEMSOC to deliver the annual report to the Governor and the citizens of Delaware.
