WHO: Delaware Division of Public Health
WHAT: Delaware Public Health Laboratory (DPHL) and Emergency Medical Services and Preparedness Section (EMSP) Open House
WHEN: Thursday, April 25, 2013, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (Tours of the lab run from 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.) Secretary Rita M. Landgraf of the Department of Health and Social Services; Dr. Sergio Huerta, laboratory director; Steven Blessing, EMSP Section Chief; and Dr. Louis Bartoshesky, chairman of the Christiana Care Health System's Department of Pediatrics, will address participants at 9 a.m.
WHERE: Campus of the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, 100 Sunnyside Rd., Smyrna, Delaware 19977. The DHCI campus is the site for both the laboratory and emergency preparedness operations.

The annual Open House promotes the role of the state lab and emergency preparedness and response in protecting Delawareans, and as well as interest in science careers. The event features information on the services and programs that protect Delawareans every day from biological or chemical illnesses, weather-related emergencies, and injury. This year's Open House celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Newborn Screening.
