MEDIA ADVISORY: CELEBRATION OF BREASTFEEDING WEEK


WHAT: An Afternoon in the Park, an event in celebration of World Breastfeeding Week. Expecting mothers and those with infants and young children are invited to learn about the importance of breastfeeding and good nutrition from health fair exhibitors.
WHEN: August 1, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. At 1:00 p.m., DPH Director Dr. Karyl Rattay will speak on how breastfeeding provides babies with an optimal nutritional start and bonds mother and child. A food demonstration begins at 1:20 p.m. Water and healthy snacks will be provided by Nemours Health and Prevention Services and Pepsi Bottling Co.
WHERE: Brecknock Park, 80 Old Camden Rd., Camden, DE 19934, at Pavilion 2 and the Piccadilly Stage.
WHO: Sponsored by the Breastfeeding Coalition of Delaware, the Division of Public Health Office of Women's Health, and Kent County. Health fair exhibitors will include the Delaware Breastfeeding Coalition, the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, the Delaware Office of Woman's Health, the Help Me Grow Program, the Delaware Coalition for Healthy Eating and Active Living (DE HEAL), the Health Ambassador Program, the Delaware Immunizations Program, the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, the Division of Child Support Enforcement, and the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension.
