DELAWARE CLASSES OFFER DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT SKILLS

Learn to control your diabetes and take charge of your health. Delaware's Division of Public Health offers workshops that are 2 1/2 hours one day a week for 6 weeks. The workshops are for Delawareans who have type 2 diabetes or live with multiple chronic diseases. These workshops teach the skills needed in day-to-day management of treatment for your chronic diseases. The programs have been designed by Stanford University for people living with diabetes or who have multiple chronic diseases or risk factors for chronic diseases, such as, high blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, depression and others. These workshops provide the skills to become an active self-manager through learning techniques that address proper exercise, healthy eating, appropriate use of medication, effective communication, understanding and managing common symptoms, and much more. Programs are usually held in your community in settings such as senior centers, churches, libraries, and health facilities.

See listings below for upcoming classes. Classes are free and to pre-register, please call the Diabetes and Heart Disease Prevention and Control Program at (302) 744-1020.
