What's New in the 2012-2013 Services Guide

The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) is pleased to provide you with the 2012-2013 Guide to Service for Older Delawareans and Persons with Disabilities. The guide features new information and navigational features to help you access needed resources.

Many of the sections, which are now color coded, include introductions and checklists to help you locate home health agencies, personal  emergency response systems, hospice care and other services.

Here is a summary of some of the ways that we tried to make it even easier for you to get the information that you need.

Page # New Information
2-3 Color-coded table of contents which has been formatted for easy viewing and navigation
5 How to stay in touch with us and give feedback about the Guide
6-7 A “tutorial” called “How to Use this Guide” to help you navigate through this large amount of information
23 Expanded Caregiving and Respite Resources section, due to the growing number of caregivers who are seeking information to continue to provide caregiving assistance to their loved ones
59-64 “Resources for Victims of Crime” courtesy of the Delaware Victims’ Rights Task Force, who  gave permission to reprint  their extensive listing of agencies who support crime victims in Delaware
89 A list of all the State Service Centers in Delaware ( A map of the state service centers is on page 290.)
120-147 The Housing Options section, which includes a variety of housing options such as 55+ communities, assisted living and nursing home facilities, continuing care retirement communities as well as agencies that assist with housing repairs and modifications
159-160 A list of some of the elder law attorneys who practice in Delaware
229-263 Looking Out for You is the largest section and includes many agencies that support persons with disabilities as well as older persons with a variety of services in the community.
291 Information about how to register with the Emergency Preparedness Voluntary Registry, so your special needs will be known to the 911 system.  If you call 911 during an emergency, your information will pop up on their screen so that emergency responders will know, for example, if you use a wheelchair or have a service animal or are hard of hearing.

We hope that you find this new information to be useful!

If you have questions, comments or suggestions, or if you would like to get a print copy of the guide, please contact the Delaware Aging and Disability Resource Center.
