FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR INDIAN RIVER CANCER STUDY

The Division of Public Health (DPH) encourages residents of Sussex County to agree to participate in a health survey as part of research on lung cancer. This study will help DPH answer questions about higher-than-expected lung cancer rates in the Indian River area. DPH staff are contacting residents in the area for participation in this survey which takes approximately 30 minutes and can be completed over-the-phone or in-person. The survey asks questions about past and current behaviors. No medical procedures are involved.

Information that directly identifies participants will not be shared. Individuals are eligible to participate if they are Sussex County residents and have never been diagnosed with any type of cancer. Participation is voluntary.

In appreciation of their time, participants will receive a $15 gift card to a local retail store. If you are contacted, please consider sharing your experiences by completing a survey. If you have any questions about the survey, you can reach study staff at 302-744-1084.
