FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EVALUATING HEALTH SERVICES AND RESEARCHING HEALTH PROBLEM SOLUTIONS
In the last in a series of 10 essential public health services assessments, the Delaware Division of Public Health and public health partners will examine two essential services; how the public health system evaluates effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of personal and population-based health services in Delaware and how the system researches for new insights and solutions to health problems.
Using an assessment tool developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), public health partners will evaluate how well the Delaware public health system:
- Essential Service #9
- Assures that the state's communities are served by appropriate and timely personal and population-based health services.
- Shares results of performance evaluations with partners for use in improvement and strategic planning processes.
- Improves the quality and outcome of health services in Delaware
- Essential Service #10
- Identifies and contributes to research activities that aid in the implementation of all the essential public health services.
- Links with research institutions and institutions of higher learning.
- Assists partners with the interpretation of research.
The assessment is scheduled for Wednesday, December 20 at the Division of Public Health Training Center in the Blue Hen Corporate Center in Dover beginning at 10:00am. The public is welcome to attend. There will be opportunity for public testimony via letter or e-mail. For more information, please contact at crystal.wisk@state.de.us or call 302-744-4706.
