SANTA'S SLEIGH BELLS ARE RINGING EARLY FOR THIS GRANDMOTHER WITH A $28,000 CHILD SUPPORT PAYMENT
Shirley Alley, who has raised her grandson since 1997 will celebrate Christmas early with $28,000 lump payment in back child support. The Division of Child support Enforcement began work to intercept back support payments from Ms. Shelley's grandson's father some time ago. Thanks to an intercept of the father's application for a mortgage refinance he was forced to send the Division a check for $35,000! The Division has already sent Ms. Alley a check for $7000, but today she will visit the office to receive a check in the amount of $28,000.
"What a fantastic time of the year for the Division to collect $35,000 and what a fantastic way to demonstrate how effective the child support enforcement system is," said Chuck Hayward, Division Director, Child Support Enforcement. "I imagine Shelly will be shocked today went we hand her a check for $28,000. She knows she's picking up a check, but she doesn't know for how much.
