FREE HEALTH FAIR ON CHILDREN'S DAY AT DELAWARE STATE FAIR
Free family-oriented health information, giveaways available Tuesday, July 26
Delaware's Division of Public Health (DPH) will host a free family health fair on July 26, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Delaware State Fair.
The DPH Health Fair features exhibits covering topics such as fitness, nutrition, safe food preparation and drinking water, injury and disease prevention, immunizations, oral health, cancer prevention and early detection, mental health and other public health issues. Children can learn how well they wash their hands under a special glow light provided by DPH's Environmental Epidemiology program and Office of Food Protection. In addition to DPH exhibitors, other participants include A.I duPont Hospital for Children, Delaware Covering Kids & Families, and the Mental Health Association in Delaware. The DPH Health Fair is located in the free entertainment tent near the Quillen Arena.
Throughout the fair, DPH's Diabetes Prevention and Control Program will be in the Exhibit Hall, next to the WBOC-TV news stage. The diabetes program will offer general diabetes literature about prevention, care and self-management, including eating properly. Mr. Food, who appears regularly on WBOC-TV, will sign autographs July 23 and 24 from 12- 4 p.m.
