LT. GOVERNOR CARNEY TO RECOGNIZE OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEERS
Lt. Governor John C. Carney will present the 23rd Annual Governor's Outstanding Volunteer Awards on November 2, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel in Dover. The awards will go to 31 individuals, organizations and corporations that best exemplify the spirit of volunteerism in Delaware.
400 family members, friends and co-workers will join the Lt. Governor at the event. Collectively, the recipients of the Governor's Awards have contributed thousands of hours of community service directed at increasing community safety, protecting the environment, sponsoring the arts, providing educational opportunities to Delaware students, and helping out neighbors in need, among other activities.
Awards sponsors are the Office of the Governor, the Department of Health and Social Services' Division of State Services Centers, the State Office of Volunteerism and the Governor's Commission on Community and Volunteer Service.
Delaware Health and Social Services is committed to improving the quality of the lives of Delaware's citizens by promoting health and well-being, fostering self-sufficiency, and protecting vulnerable populations.
