Individuals involved in flood recovery are at higher risk for tetanus because they may receive cuts or puncture wounds while working among hurricane debris and floodwater. Tetanus vaccine prevents the infection commonly known as lockjaw that can occur when bacteria enter such wounds.

DPH drinking water and environmental health specialists will be available at the clinic to answer questions about flood-related health issues. Educational handouts will also be available.

For more information, call DPH at 302-283-7587.
