HIJACK SURVIVOR JACKIE PFLUG SPEAKS AT OCT. 24 WOMEN'S EXPO
Media Representatives Welcome to Hear Message of Endurance and Overcoming Tragedy
Jackie Pflug, who survived a gunshot wound during the 1985 hijacking of Egypt Air #648, will speak to more than 850 women Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. during the Women's Wellness Expo at the Dover Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center. Pflug was returning to Egypt, where she taught at the Cairo American School, when three terrorists hijacked her flight, forced the plane to land in Malta and began executing passengers. Pflug was shot in the head, thrown from the plane and left for dead. An airport grounds crew found her five hours later among 59 deceased passengers. Pflug suffered a brain injury, which includes impaired vision and a loss of short-term memory.
Pflug, who travels from Minneapolis, Minn., speaks from experience about endurance and perseverance. She reminds audiences that tragedy, suffering and everyday challenges contain the seeds of new growth and learning. Her survival, coping skills and message of strength have inspired thousands of people to set a new direction and focus on living their lives to full potential.
Pflug's book, Miles to Go Before I Sleep, will be available for sale and signing by the author at the event.
