ANNUAL GOVERNOR'S OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARDS
Nominate a Friend, Colleague, Agency, Business, or Faith-Based or Community Organization
NEW CASTLE - Nominations for the Governor's Outstanding Volunteer Awards will be accepted through Friday, Feb. 14, 2003. These prestigious awards focus public attention on the value and joy of volunteering, and inspire others to follow the fine example of the awardees and all volunteers throughout the state. Categories include individual, group, agency, business, government, community, civic and faith-based organizations working in the areas of public safety, health, education, community, human needs, environment, arts and culture, social justice and health.
"Millions of hours of volunteer service are given each year in the State of Delaware providing vital services to residents," said Jane Rattenni, Community Relations and Special Events Coordinator for the State Office of Volunteerism. "The Division of State Service Centers' Office of Volunteerism needs assistance in identifying individuals, groups, organizations and businesses providing exemplary volunteer service in Delaware."
Award recipients will be honored at a special dinner ceremony during National Volunteer Week in April. To nominate a friend, colleague, agency, business, or faith-based or community organization for a Governor's Outstanding Volunteer Award, contact the State Office of Volunteerism at 1-800-815-5465.
The Governor's Outstanding Volunteer Awards are sponsored by the Office of the Governor and coordinated by Delaware Health and Social Services, Division of State Service Centers, State Office of Volunteerism and the Governor's Council on Volunteer Services.
