EXPANDED FLU CLINIC HOURS


Delaware's Division of Public Health (DPH) will expand its flu vaccination clinic hours at select New Castle and Sussex County sites Jan. 6-8 to enable more residents to receive shots before the flu season's typical mid-winter peak. All flu vaccinations are available by appointment to individuals included in at-risk groups. Only the Newark Senior Center clinic on Jan. 6 will offer vaccinations without appointment.

Flu vaccinations are also available by appointment from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the following clinics in New Castle County.

The following clinics in Kent and Sussex Counties will schedule residents for flu vaccinations from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Delaware residents are eligible to receive flu shots at DPH clinics if they are included in the following at-risk groups:

  • people age 50 or older
  • residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities that house persons of any age who have long-term illnesses
  • adults and children 6 months of age or older who have chronic heart or lung conditions, including asthma
  • adults and children 6 months of age or older who need regular medical care or had to be in a hospital because of metabolic diseases (like diabetes), chronic kidney disease, or weakened immune system (including immune system problems caused by medicine or by infection with human immunodeficiency virus [HIV])
  • children and teenagers (aged 6 months to 18 years) who are on long-term aspirin therapy and therefore could develop Reye syndrome after the flu
  • women who will be more than 3 months pregnant during the flu season
  • healthy children aged 6 to 23 months.
  • people who provide home care to those in high-risk groups; household members (including children) of people in high-risk groups
