NEW DEPUTY SECRETARY NAMED FOR DELAWARE HEALTH & SOCIAL SERVICES
Appointment also made for head of Division of Management Services
NEW CASTLE - Gregg C. Sylvester M.D., Secretary of Delaware Health & Social Services has appointed Steven F. Boedigheimer as the new Deputy Secretary of Delaware Health & Social Services. Boedigheimer was the Deputy Director of the Delaware Division of Public Health, where he has worked since 1990.
"Steve brings more than 10 years of experience in dealing with key health and safety issues in Delaware to this position. His training and background make him a great addition to the Department's management team," Sylvester said.
Boedigheimer previously worked as Assistant Administrator for the Health Division of the Oregon Department of Human Resources. Before coming to Delaware, he was executive director of a special work group studying the health of workers and communities associated with nuclear research and weapons manufacturing sites for the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C.
Boedigheimer also serves on the management committee of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials and the advisory board of the Mid Atlantic Public Health Leadership Institute at Johns Hopkins University.
Sylvester has also appointed William Love as the Director of the Division of Management Services, where he has been acting director. Love has served as Deputy Secretary and was previously director of the Division of Mental Retardation.
"Bill brings a wealth of knowledge about the workings of Delaware Health & Social Services and the needs of our clients to his work. His abilities will be invaluable to this key division which oversees the financial integrity of the department," Sylvester said.
