GOVERNOR CARPER TO KICK OFF VOLUNTEER WEEK, APRIL 18-24

WHY: National Volunteer Week in Delaware is a great opportunity for Delawareans to become involved in their community and to recognize the meaningful ways volunteers contribute to the state. The week is designed to encourage all Delawareans to volunteer their time, experience and skills in their communities.

Recipients of the Governor's Youth Volunteer Service Awards will be at the event. In addition, Governor Carper will introduce the 1999 recipients of the Governor's Outstanding Volunteer Awards, which recognizes the remarkable volunteer contributions of Delaware's individuals, groups and businesses.

The Governor's Outstanding Volunteer Award recipients will be presented with their awards at a special dinner ceremony capping National Volunteer Week in Delaware on April 22, 1999 at the Dover Sheraton.
