Purpose:	The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) Forensic Sciences Laboratory currently houses Delaware Health and Social Services (DHSS) division: Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) OCME investigation of all sudden deaths occurring within the State to determine cause and manner of death, and in some cases positive identification. The Forensic Sciences Laboratory analyzes narcotics, dangerous drugs and controlled substances submitted by police departments performs blood alcohol analyses for suspected DUI cases submitted by police agencies performs laboratory analyses in arson investigations The professional staff provides expert testimony in courts of law The Forensic DNA Laboratory handles casework submitted by police agencies in rapes, sexual assault cases, homicides, and other cases requiring DNA analysis.

The OCME building is just past the parking lot and occupies the entire block from Elm to Chestnut Streets. The main entrance is at the front of the building on Adams Street. From the South: (Including: New Castle, lower New Castle County and Kent and Sussex Counties) I-95 North Take 4th Street/Maryland Avenue exit Proceed past the first light at the bottom of the Maryland Avenue exit The Medical Examiners Office is about 200 feet past the light on the Right Turn Right onto Chestnut Street The main entrance is at the front of the building on Adams Street From the East: (Including: Edgemoor and Landlith) Washington Street to Second Street Turn Right onto Second Street Turn Left onto Monroe Street Proceed 2 blocks and turn Right onto Chestnut Street The OCME parking lot will be on the left. The OCME building is just past the parking lot and occupies the entire block from Elm to Chestnut Streets. The main entrance is at the front of the building on Adams Street. From the West: (Including: Elsmere and Stanton) Route 2/Kirkwood Highway East into Wilmington Turn Right onto Martin Luther King Boulevard Turn Right onto Monroe Street Proceed 1 block and turn Right onto Chestnut Street The OCME parking lot will be on the left. The OCME building is just past the parking lot and occupies the entire block from Elm to Chestnut Streets. The main entrance is at the front of the building on Adams Street.
