Welcome & Introductions
Secretary Meconi welcomed the committee and the public. A quorum was not present, so the following motions were discussed and later approved via written correspondence with absent committee members.
Approval of minutes
Minutes from the April meeting were approved without amendment.
Supplemental Settlement Payment recommendation.
A late payment from one of the settling tobacco companies resulted in a payment of $195,555 on April 26. The group recommended adding this amount to the Strategic Reserve recommendation.
Process for SFY 2003
The group agreed to submit recommendations in November 2001, meeting the statutory deadline and submitting before the Governor's Budget is developed. This would require four meetings in the fall:
- One public forum (early September)
- One meeting to hear updates on all tobacco settlement-funded initiatives (Late Sept)
- Two working meetings (October and November)
