The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Sussex County is located at the Georgetown State Service Center. We are pleased that you have visited us to explore the many exciting volunteer opportunities that are both challenging and adventurous.
You can make a lot of phone calls on your own to explore all the possibilities or you can make just
one phone call to contact us at the RSVP Sussex County office.
Do You Have What It Takes?
What is RSVP?
RSVP refers adults 55 and older to service opportunities with local non-profits and governmental agencies. We can help you find the best fit quickly by matching your skills and interests with our database of opportunities.
Are there any other benefits?
Yes, volunteers are covered under a supplemental accident insurance plan while they are doing their volunteer work. Insurance coverage includes use of your automobile while traveling to and from the work sites and/or during the provision of services. Accident and Liability Insurance are provided at no cost to the volunteer. A special recognition event is planned each year to recognize all volunteers for their community service.
What time is required?
You chose when and where you want to volunteer. You can serve as little as four or more hours a month.
How do I get involved?
There are two ways to put RSVP to work for you:

- Call our business office. You can talk to one of our expert volunteer coordinators who will guide you through the process.
- Download an RSVP Enrollment Form - (Text Version Only). Fill out the form and mail it back to us. We will contact you to set up an interview over the phone or in person.
Does someone keep track of my hours?
Yes, the volunteer site tracks your volunteer hours, the hours are then sent monthly to the RSVP office. The volunteer hours show the importance of senior involvement in the community. The RSVP office reports to their sponsors the valuable impact that RSVP volunteers are having in a community.
Why should I volunteer?
Volunteering improves the community and America. Volunteering gives you insight into lives and situations different from your own. Volunteering gives you a valuable life experience, a sense of purpose. Volunteering helps you make connections in the community. Volunteering just makes life better for everyone, including you.
Will I make a difference?
Yes! One person can and does make a difference.
