Volunteer Job Description:

Volunteer Ombudsmen visit elderly and disabled residents of Delaware's long term care facilities.  They are trained in residents rights and act as advocates for residents and their families who may have concerns that they cannot deal with themselves.  Most importantly, they help alleviate the loneliness and isolation of residents simply by stopping by and visiting.  In giving their time and attention, volunteers can make a huge difference in the lives of nursing home residents.  Most volunteers find the work very rewarding, and feel that they get back much more than they give.

Volunteer Requirements:

Volunteers must be Delaware residents, complete a 15-hour training program, and agree to volunteer for one year on a part-time basis (3-4 hours per week).
