Pages 1--4 1 Assisted Living Assisted Living is a community-based residential services option for older persons and/or adults with physicaldisabilities who need assistance with the activities of daily living. Assisted living combines housing, personal services and light medical or nursing v\care in an environment that promotes maximum individual independence, dignity, privacy, and choice. 2 Assisted Living Services Assisted living encompasses a wide range of personal care services and assistance with activities of daily living. These include: grooming, transferring, ambulating, bathing, dressing, eating and meal preparation, toileting, social and emotional support, and nursing services. Assisted Living Settings Assisted living settings may include small group and residential homes, sections of apartment buildings and housing clusters, e. g., townhouses and mobile homes, free standing facilities, and sections of hospitals or nursing homes. Financial Assistance Financial assistance is available for low income individuals through Medicaid or general funds if they meet the medical and financial criteria.
