Caregivers of the Year Honored
Three winners of Delaware's Caregiver of the Year Award were announced on November 2, 2006 during the State's second annual Caregiver Expo. Awardees were selected based on nominations submitted by friends, family members or acquaintences.
The winners were: Ms. Lynne-Perrine-Manus, who has cared for her elderly mother for over ten years; Ms. Joan Coffin, who has provided constant care to her ill husband; and Ms. Diana Makatchie, who for several years has been the primary caregiver for her two grandchildren.
Winners of the Caregiver of the Year award received copies of The Comfort of Home -- a helpful book providing a step-by-step illustrated guide to home care and The Family Caregiver Health Guide -- a collection of practical tips and health services that can make a caregiver’s job easier.
The Caregiver of the Year Contest was sponsored by the Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities as part of its National Caregiving Month celebration. It is a special time to thank, support, educate and advocate for the more than 130,000 family caregivers across Delaware.
Thank you to all of the caregivers in Delaware for your hard work and dedication and congratulations to the contest winners!
