ABOUT US Medical Reserve Corps Program Launched in July 2002 in response to the President's call for all Americans to offer volunteer service in their communities. A component of the Citizens Corps, the Medical Reserve Corps is a national network of volunteers dedicated to making sure their families, homes and communities are safe from terrorism, crime and disasters of all kinds. Aims to strengthen communities by enlisting healthcare and non-healthcare volunteers to offer their knowledge and expertise throughout the year. Facts about Delaware Medical Reserve Corps Comprised of volunteers who support the Delaware Division of Public Health throughout the year in the areas of education, outreach and health services. WE NEED YOU Volunteers Needed The Delaware Medical Reserve Corps (DMRC) is actively recruiting healthcare professionals such as: *Physicians *Nurses *Pharmacists *Pharmacy Technicians *Mental Health Practitioners *Social Workers *Translators In addition, the DMRC welcomes all other healthcare professionals and those without a healthcare background who are interested in volunteering during an emergency. Licensure and Certification The Delaware Medical Reserve Corps is interested in retired and active healthcare, medical and public health professionals who are currently licensed or certified in their profession. THINGS YOU DO Delaware Medical Reserve Corps Involvement There are many roles the Delaware Medical Reserve Corps volunteer can play to support everyday public health initiatives as well as during emergency and disaster events. Here are a few examples: -Assist in the operation of community treatment centers, called Neighborhood Emergency Help Centers (NEHCs) -Aid Delaware hospitals in the operations of alternate care facilities such as Acute Care Centers (ACCs) -Help support immunization campaigns -Provide information and educate the community through health fairs and other venues to increase awareness of the importance of individual and family preparedness Assist in the timely investigation and control of communicable disease spread Training: All volunteers will be invited to attend educational seminars, trainings, workshops and exercises.
