E. COLI BACTERIA WERE originally FOUND IN THE WATER SUPPLY On October 21, 2011.
Samples are still positive for total coliform.

Possible Health Effects

  • E. coli are bacteria whose presence indicates that the water may be contaminated with human or animal waste. Microbes in these wastes can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches or other symptoms. They may pose a special health risk for infants, young children and people with severely compromised immune systems.
  • People at increased risk should seek advice from their health care provides about drinking this water.

Steps We Are Taking

We are increasing the chlorine in the sanitizing rinse for our dishes pots and pans. We will call a well driller to disinfect the well again. We will provide bottled water for drinking and all ice served on the premises will be purchased, made from an approved source or from water that has been boiled.

We will inform you when additional samples show no E. coli bacteria and you may drink the water. We anticipate resolving the problem within 2 weeks.

For more information, please contact Mr. Vinny Baffone, owner (302) 563-7991 or Anita Beckel, Environmental Health Specialist III at (302) 741-8630. General guidelines on ways to lessen the risk of infection by microbes are available from EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1(800) 426-4791.
