About the Division of Medicaid & Medical Assistance

On July 1, 2005, the Delaware Division of Medicaid & Medical Assistance was officially born. The purpose of creating the new division was to strengthen the delivery of quality health care in Delaware in a fiscally responsible manner. As part of the joint DMMA/DSS Mentoring Project, DMMA created its own Vision and Mission Statements.

DMMA Mission Statement

The mission of the Division of Medicaid & Medical Assistance is to improve health outcomes by ensuring that the highest quality medical services are provided to the vulnerable populations of Delaware in the most cost effective manner.

DMMA Vision Statement

Through innovation, enhance medical coverage to meet the diverse needs of Delawareans.

We believe these statements succinctly express the forward thinking and commitment that the DMMA team has for the needs of the citizens of Delaware. We thank Barbara Lewis for her outstanding work in managing this mentoring initiative, Mike Rudis for his expert guidance, and the focus group volunteers who devoted their time and provided critical discussion to help articulate our organization's purpose and identity - Gregory Roane, Sharon Summers, Cathleen Fining, Sandy Brooks, Frances Hollis-Torres, Jacqulyn Lowe, and Tamara Shirer.
