LICENSING AND CERTIFYING PROCESS

The Division of Long Term Care Residents Protection is responsible for State licensure of long term care facilities in Delaware.  All nursing homes, intermediate care facilities, assisted living facilities, group homes, neighborhood homes, rest (residential) homes, and rest (family care) homes must be licensed to operate in the State of Delaware.  The Division also certifies nursing homes that wish to participate in the Medicare and/or Medicaid programs.

For information about how to become licensed and/or certified, and to find out which facilities in Delaware have a State license and/or Medicare/Medicaid certification, please contact the Division at its New Castle County office .
