Respite Services
Respite is a service designed to give care givers a break from the stresses of supporting someone with intensive needs. It is also a way for those receiving supports to get a break from their usual routine. Respite Coordinators work with families and individuals to determine availability and family circumstances. Some respite options include:
- In-home respite – A private provider, or a person the individual chooses, does respite care in the home of the individual
- Out-of-home respite – the individual may choose to receive respite services in the home of contracted DDDS Respite provider
- Respite in residential programs – the individual may choose to stay for a short time with a provider of residential services, such as the Mary Campbell Center, or may choose to utilize other facilities that provide round-the-clock care, such as Camp Fairlee Manor
